Uncle Marcus and Ellie

Ellie had a lot of fun with Uncle Marcus during his visit. They played and danced and joked around from the minute Ellie woke up each morning to the time she went to bed each night.

Great Grandma Lil's Visit

The Family

Ellie and Great Grandma

We had a wonderful visit with Great Grandma Lil a few weeks ago. Great Grandma flew up to Raleigh with Aunt Randy and Uncle Bobby. Uncle Warren, Aunt Diane, and David came up, too. And of course, Grammie, Grandpa, Uncle Jake and Uncle Marcus were also there. It was so much fun watching Ellie and Max with them. Ellie had a lot of fun. Aunt Randy made a friend for life with Ellie! They played and played. Uncle Bobby helped fix Ellie and Max's broken swing set. They finally have a slide that works! Thanks, Uncle Bobby!

Ellie Update

Ellie is doing great too. She is so smart and comes up with the funniest things to say. She loves playing pretend. She pretends that she works in an ice cream shop and serves crazy flavors-- green bean, corn, potato chip-- you name it, she'll serve to you! She also likes to play Mama and Darlin'. "Mommy, you be the Mama and I'll be the Darlin', okay?"

She is finally out of pull ups at night. She decided last week that she wanted to sleep in panties, just like Hailey Grace. Hailey is my best friend, Court's, daughter and they were here visiting in March. All of a sudden, Ellie got on a kick of sleeping in panties just like Hailey, so we did it. She has not had any accidents in bed. The first few nights, she had a little trouble making it to the potty on time, but that only lasted 2 nights.

She is also doing better at sleeping in her own bed. She still tries to sneak in my bed in the middle of the night, but is improving. I keep reminding her that she will be 4 soon and big girls sleep in their own bed. Slowly, but surely, she is getting it.

We are also patching her eye again. You may remember that she had Stabismus Surgery last year on her left eye. Over the past several months, I have noticed her eye straying again. After taking her back to two different eye doctors, we have learned that she is still not using her left eye. When she goes to focus on things, she tends to use only her right, stonger eye. The new eye doctor suggested using the patch every day for 2 hours. Ellie is pretty good about keeping it on. We go back to the eye doctor in September. Hopefully we will see some improvement then.

Max at 18 months

At 18 months, Max weighs 22.13 lbs (10th percentile) and is 30.5 inches long (12th percentile). The pediatrician was very impressed with my little man at his appointment. He sat quietly on lap as she examined his eyes, ears, nose, throat, teeth and heart beat. He happily demonstrated his jumping capabilities when she asked. He was quiet when she asked about his vocabulary, but was impressed when I mentioned the list of words he uses. Mama, Addy (Daddy), Ellie, Eston (Preston), Gampa (Grandpa/Grammie), Oah (Noah), Ack, Ack (Quack, Quack), ilk (Milk), eat, ath (bath), es (yes), ookie (cookie), bup (cup), ank you (thank you), eese (please/cheese), night night, hi, bye. There are plenty more, but I can't think of them now.

He really is getting big and truly showing off his big personality. He wants to do everything his sister does and sometimes forgets he is only 1 year old! He loves playing "side" (outside) and going to the swimming pool. Something he does that Ellie doesn't--the kiddie water slide! He loves it, which scares me to death! He throws tantrums if he doesn't get his way and fights with his sister all the time.
